Now they are back at school
There are some great books for kids about being in school - after that first day seems like only a memory.
I love Laura Numeroff's book for the younger crowd - If You Take a Mouse to School:
And Yoko by Rosemary Wells, really a book about tolerance and understanding (some) cultural differences:
For a book that addresses teasing in a very funny way, try Hooway for Wodney Wat, by Helen Lester:
and if you are already reading Ms. Lester, don't miss out on Tacky the Penguin, and very funny, Score One for the Sloths:
A hilarious series, literally laugh out loud, by Barbara Robinson starts with The Best (WORST) School Year Ever - introducing your child to the horrible Hurdmans who make school life both very interesting and very annoying:
and finally - for the much older students looking for the original boarding school series, where kids take center stage, you can't beat Enid Blyton's Mallory Towers series, or St. Clare's. For these I have to use older covers - the new ones just don't do the books justice.
I hope there is lots to enjoy about settling into life back at school.
