Writers and Children

In Honour of this year's Massey Lecturer, Adam Gopnik, let me direct you to some of his writing about children - which is excellent, in fact, my favourite part of his writing.

In Through the Children's Gate, look particularly at Bumping into Mr. Ravioli, insight for all of us about how children watch us and integrate life into their games, and in Death of a Fish, a father reveals how he struggles with helping his child manage fear and anxiety, about little and big things.

Adam Gopnik grew up with his family in Montreal.  His sister, Alison Gopnik, is a psychologist who studies infants, and her book The Scientist in the Crib, is a fantastic book for anyone who wants a better understanding of what infancy is all about.  It will change how you think about babies and toddlers forever.
