New Year's Resolution

Some people like to use the New Year to make changes.  Some students are reassessing after the fall, wanting to optimize their school performance.  Some parents are wanting to offer encouragement, or help their child make the most of their educational opportunities.

Looking at what is available in the Toronto Public Library, here are some suggestions.

For a basic overview about how to improve study skills - let me suggest


and as much as I hate the title in this series,


these two books seem to have the best, easiest to read overview.

For something a little humourous, and a bit more fun, try Michael Greenberg's Painless Study Techniques, or Caffeine Will NOT Help You Pass That Test, published by Kaplan - the Test Prep and Admissions people:






For a bit of a more serious view, try Bernice Walmsley's

or some tips from Barron's,




and for the most in-depth of all, if you have any inclination to know how and why studying works:
